Tribeca Flashpoint Academy - PIA - Battle of the Bands
We have a winner! After an awesome night of killer rock music, Archie Powell and the Exports has emerged as the champion of TFA's May 2011 Production-in-Action: Battle of the Bands!
Last night at CBS Studios in Chicago, Archie and first-round finalists The Noise F.M. and Molehill took to the TFA stage for a sensorily-stunning showcase of Chicago's coolest up-and-coming artists.
A panel of three expert judges including US99 Morning Show host Lisa Dent, legendary Chicago club owner Joe Shanahan and independent producer and songwriter Frayne Lewis presided over the affair, grading each band's performance on its unique blend of eye-popping visuals, multi-media integration, and (of course) explosive rock sound.
To give the performers a competitive edge, rival groups of first year students created marketing materials which were also presented during PIA. From video packages to video games, in-show entertainment to iPhone apps, TFA students brought their digital media A-game.
"I can't believe students did all this," said Dent, and the audience responded in cheers.
Congratulations to all of our first year students who participated for making PIA: Battle of the Bands a resounding success!
